On Wednesday, September 23rd, we will be recognizing several members of our staff for their hard work and dedication to our school community.
Ramone Nunez, our school security officer, for keeping our students and staff safe each day.
Our cafeteria aides – Dave Carmen, Sue Dinunzio, Bill DiCioccio and Janette Lange – for supervising students during lunch and recess, helping to make sure everyone is safe and having fun.
Our kitchen staff, who prepare and serve meals daily to keep our Cardinals fueled and ready to learn.
Please join us in thanking these amazing staff members for their service and commitment to our school!
Bus Behavior
To help keep our bus rides safe and positive for everyone, please review these expectations with your child:
Be KIND to each other
Sit on your bottom and stay in your seat
Keep feet in front of you
Electronics are kept off and away
No eating on the bus
Listen to the bus driver
Use table-talk voices
Take all of your belongings off the bus
Report problems to the bus driver right away
Thank you for your support in reinforcing these rules at home. Working together helps ensure that every student has a safe and respectful ride to and from school.

Snacks
Students have a few opportunities throughout the day to eat. At school, we serve breakfast and lunch. Students also have an opportunity for snacks. This typically occurs at a point during the day between the longest stretch from one meal to the next. While we might have a limited supply of snacks on hand for emergencies, it is expected that students will bring a snack from home. Please make sure snacks are nut free as they are eaten in the classroom.

Assessments
Students will be administered a variety of assessments this month. Students are assessed three times annually on foundational skills.These assessment results help us plan for your child while also giving us information about their progress. Students will take these assessments in reading, math, and writing. They are done in a variety of formats including one to one, group, paper and pencil, and oral. While some take minutes to administer, others might take longer. Results from these assessments are shared with families at various points throughout the year.
Reminders
Students should NOT be dropped off in the front of the school prior to 8:30. Please make sure that if you arrive early, that you remain with your child.
All students who are dropped off and walk to school enter through the front doors by the flag pole.
All drop offs are done in the circle. Please stay in line remain in your car and make sure your child exits from the curbside of the car.
Remember all traffic must stop when bus stop signs are out even in the parking lots. No one wants any of our students or staff to be hit by a car.
Playground Access
Many families enjoy using the Chaffee playgrounds after school. To help keep our dismissal running smoothly and safely, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Back (Big) Playground: Please wait until all buses have departed before using this playground. Keeping the surrounding sidewalks clear during dismissal ensures all students board their buses safely.
Front (Small) Playground: Open and available immediately after school dismisses.

It is always available on our website. I strongly encourage every family to read this Notice Concerning School Climate and contact me with any questions.
Early Dismissal & Dismissal Change Information
This is just a friendly reminder that if you plan to dismiss your student early we need it in writing. It can either be a written note in your students backpack or sent to rcoffice@npsct.org. If it is someone other than the parent picking up please clearly state the persons full name.
All daily dismissal changes need to be in writing also! This can be done the same way either via a written note in your students backpack or an email to rcoffice@npsct.org no later than 3:00pm each day! If we have nothing in writing your student will be dismissed their regular way!
Emergency contacts are not used for dismissal purposes. They are used for the nurse and emergency purposes only.
